A workshop specifically for students with little or no yoga experience or those who want to re-start their practice after being out of the game for a while. This class is an ideal way to learn the fundamentals of a safe, healthy yoga practice. Ideally you will walk out of this workshop knowing a little more about your body and mind – strength and limitations, flexibility and tension - and how to work on and balance these with the practice of Yoga. We will introduce the basic concepts of a complete yoga practice as well as its philosophical background, inviting you to explore what yoga might be (or become) for you.
Yoga is so much more than putting your body in unknown and bizarre
shapes. we are truly focused on the here and now, whilst experiencing
inner and outer strength as well as recognizing and accepting
limitations without judgement of ourselfs or the ones surrounding
us. Yoga teaches us to relate to our body, it teaches us to come back to that awareness of our body in our everyday lives and over time it
teaches us to carry and feel ourselves differently. beyond this, via
yoga and meditation we can accomplish an artful approach to living, a
way of applying skills and awareness to all aspects of life, including
relationships, work, personal evolution and self-care.
Jess studied medicine in her hometown Vienna. During her years at University unforeseen health issues led her to take charge of her life and it was then that her interest in sports, nutrition, self-study, meditation and environmental issues has grown. Yoga, combining all these concepts at once, was therapy for her body and mind. She desired to get a deeper insight of the physical and philosophical studies by attending a teacher training. In the summer of 2018, she obtained her certificate of teaching Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Vidya Heisel, founder of FLY International. Although this journey evolved from a personal approach, she found the love for teaching and wished to share her enthusiasm for Yoga and pass it’s possible effects on to others. Since then she has been offering group and private lessons in Friborg and Berne, while continuing her work as a doctor in emergency medicine and attending further teacher trainings and workshops.
The atmosphere created in jess' classes is focused and joyful. Her classes are dynamic, fluid and stimulating, strengthening and lengthening the body as a whole. Sometimes challenging, they always offer modifications to adapt to all levels and all types of body. Each session ends with a deep relaxation. The sequences are creative and intelligent, while respecting safe alignment and anatomy. During the course, she will constantly give cues, encouraging students to correct their alignment and understand the mechanism of each posture as well as their own body. Her knowledge of medicine will also give you a therapeutic view on movement and postures. Jess is also available for advice or private sessions in case of physical difficulties or injuries that you would like to overcome during your yoga practice.
